Back in Seattle 2006

I might have mentioned this before, the second city I feel most at home apart from Melbourne is Seattle.

It's good to be back in the emerald city. It's just over a year since I was back in this city. Circusmtances have certainly changed since my last visit. This time, I travelled alone without my good MVPs friends but I have since gained a lot of friends to visit in campus.

This arvo, I caught the public bus to campus to attend a internal MSFT bloggers town hall meeting hosted by Jeff Sandquist and reps from DPE, LCA, Sara Ford "the former accessibility lady" from Dev Div. Good O Franky was supposed to be on the bloggers expert panel but he had more important task at hand to deal with, let's wish him speedy recovery!

The bloggers town hall was quite useful, particularly from the PR and LCA perspectives. This event also allowed me to understand even better about the implications of corporate blogging, both good and bad. During the discussion, I learnt more about how we at Microsoft can really use blogs as a honest, transparent and effective tool to communicate with the users of our software. I'm glad I attended this session. But one thing I also learnt, I cannot run contests from my blog anymore, otherwise I risk getting sued by "7 states and 1 province from Canada" (I personally think, there cold be more).

More friends to visit back in campus tomorrow and this time, no more Outlook!
