Last Thur evening, I was at Wildfire, located at the Sydney Oversea Passenger Terminal. The restaurant ambience was quite intimate, and the venue interior was very luxurious, it truly has the settings for a fine establishment.
Our dinner party ordered the house special, which was Brazilian churrasco grill. Soon the waiters began the grill setup on our dinner table. The sauce rack was placed in front of me and after he left, I noticed some “movement” on the table. A “xiao qiang” or cockroach was introduced to the table and began crawling around.
I drew a waiter’s attention to the introduction of our unexpected “guest”. A senior waiter staff came over to remove it swiftly with an ice-cream stick and a plate. No apologies, no surprise look from him, seems like “another day in the office”. I can’t help but noticed that the plate used was the dinner roll plate. I would have preferred if he removed it with a paper towel, I wouldn’t want to be the guest having to use the “cockroach removal plate”.
The waiter drink services were very prompt and they were eagerly refilling our water and wine glasses. At some point during dinner, I decided to have some coffee to compliment the churrasco grill which was excellent. The meats were well marinated and superbly cooked. The first time, I asked for a skinny macchiato, when the drink came, a waiter served me a regular mocha which I eventually accepted, not to cause too much trouble.
Towards the end, I decided to order “another” skinny decaf macchiato, guess what? I got a skinny decaf flat white. What must a man do to get a macchiato in this establishment? I'm not sure, but I hope I will receive better service in some other opportunity.
Wildfire, great interior settings, tasty food but bland service to say the least.
