Dealing with wires

My backpack has too many wires in it. Power cord for the laptop. Powercord for the cell phone. Ethernet cable. Headphones. Car/airplane power adapter. Modem cord. OK the modem cord is not much problem as it winds into a carrier. But the other cables keep getting tangled up. There are only so many pockets in my backpack. How do you organize wires and  cables in what ever bag you carry your computer and accessories?

I tie them with either thin tires or rubber band... My laptop has everything built in so the only things that I really need to worry about are the adaptors and the mouse... Hehehe...maybe you should try buying a bigger laptop bag?

Hmm. Never really thought about that. I only carry around my laptop charger and everything else is left at home. Hehe. Anyway, the only advice I give in this situation is regarding the ethernet cable, as far as I know, there are retractable versions of it, something similar to what you have for your modem cable.

Get a few pencil cases. Cheap black nylon ones are the best. Then group your cables into categories (power, networking etc etc) and put them in the cases. Then drop them into your backpack and keep them nice and tidy. Alternatively, in the UK a lot of ladies magazines come with makeup bags on the front. If you can persuade a lady of your aquaintance to invest in such journals you can hijack the bags later (but don't go for the shocking pink ones....).
